Status of Part 2 in Atlas Shrugged movie trilogy: It WILL be made.

Still haven’t seen the Atlas Shrugged movie? You won’t have to wait much longer. The DVD is scheduled for release on November 8th, well in time for the Christmas season. Pre-order as many copies as you’d like for just $19.95.

If you’ve been wondering about the fate of Part 2 in the trilogy, we’re happy to report the producers are 100% committed to creating it and are already making active progress. Expect to hear announcements on that front soon.

The production team learned a great deal, as well, from the challenges of making Part 1. Atlas Productions COO Scott DeSapio writes, “Part 1 was a tremendous learning experience for everyone involved.” And they are setting their sites higher for the second: “We are fully committed to making Part 2 a truly great film,” DeSapio says.

The modest but important successes of Part 1 have been good for The Atlasphere community and we are making updates to our site infrastructure that will help even more. We will keep you informed of these developments as well as any major announcements related to the trilogy.

Thanks for the info.  Getting more info here than at the official blog. Hey, it doesn’t have to be much … little snippets, little teasers every week or so … just enough to keep us fans drooling in anticipation.

“The modest but important successes of Part 1…”

Yes, that’s an interesting way to describe how it failed to make back a quarter of it budget.

    • Anonymous

Hey Oskar, the $20 mill budget you’re speaking of Part 1 not reaching is actually $20 million that has been spent over the last 18 years while trying to bring the movie to the screen and includes buying the rights to the entire book not just the 1st section which has been shown so far. It also includes money spent by several different parties since the rights have shifted hands. The budget for the production of Part 1 was actually only $5 million (included in the $20 million) and has been reached and exceeded prior to the movie going to DVD.

It’s funny how numbers work when you want to tear things down, huh?

Well, then why does the “Myths” section of this very website confidently proclaim that ”
the full budget is likely to be $25 million by the time the movie is released ” and that those who cite the $5 million dollar figure are just trying to disparage the movie?

Before the film’s release, the filmmakers were trying to make it clear just how large the budget of the film was to make it look more impressive. Now that it’s been established as flop, you apparently try to downgrade the budget so it doesn’t seem QUITE as big a bomb…

It’s funny how numbers work when you try to exaggerate the success of your film, huh?

This is a story that needs to be told in its entirety. The United States is the last greatest hope in this world for the only system that in the end truly works, “Capitalism.”  Anything else is “fool’s gold.” As Margaret Thatcher said so well, “Socialism is a wonderful thing………..until you run out of other people’s money.” And that’s starting to happen now all over the world.

Down with the Moochers. Long live the Producers.

I was also a fan when I was 15. But this movie struck me as quite comic bookish. I didn’t think it translated well, and I always thought it would.

I read this book recently.  It was a real wake-up.  The movie was fabulous.  Can’t wait for Part 2.  What a scary movie as it relates to today’s world.  How can we see that all Americans read the book or watch the movie.  We are headed in the same direction.

Capitalism will always prevail as Thomas H says, it truly is the only system that is proven to work. Enslavement and entitlement systems are doomed to failure by design, and the social engineers know it. America is the last and greatest hope for mankind. It is our duty to bring her back to her potential.

I first read Atlas Shrugged in 1966. Part I was worth the wait. I hope that a very good condensation is done on the John Galt Speech. If so, all the left wingers will want to disappear into their damp logs, caves, and tree houses.

Atlas shrugged is a naive look at todays failed Western Economy and Society. It contains interesting selective truth, no viable solutions and a great base to start a discussion. Mediocrity taking over in Washington is real, but there are no idealistic business people like John Galt, this guys made Washington to the foul pond of stinking mud it is.

I really liked the movie. A very simplistic understanding of the book that i’ve read 13 times. There could’ve been more detail to small points like when the head union leader was trying to deny his workers from working on the train. They could’ve done 30 seconds of the lines of guys signing up to volunteer. As the train was running, they could’ve placed “the guards” along the route  and it could’ve been done with only a few of the extras. I did, however, like the way Fransisco D’anconia called Dagny Taggart, “Slug” in the scene where she was begging him for money. Had the producers put in even the small clips of trite they would’ve added so much more that the book encompassed. All-in-all, I thought this movie was fantastic and I can’t wait to see Part II and it being released on or around the election day makes it seem that much better. I was hoping the producers could figure out a way on election day to take over the communications system to  air John Galt’s speech. Now, THAT WOULD BE THE WAY TO RELEASE PART III.

    Let’s all support Ron Paul.
